Day 1 - Make something that fits in the palm of your hand - January 9th 2017

A good friend of mine gave me the book "A Daily Creativity Journal" by Noah Scalin. The stress is on making something every day for 365 days.

The book advises documenting and publicising the creations each day. Followers can help one to achieve the goal by encouraging and helping out with ideas. So, this is the first blog post for my first day.

Interestingly, the front of the book has the standard "don't copy any part of this book electronically ....". I'm ignoring this because it is against the philosophy of the book.

Today's task is to "make something that fits in the palm of your hand using only the materials in your immediate environment".

I belong to a small printing group in my local town, Cinderford, U.K. I created a black and white geometric lino print before Christmas and today I glued it onto some black mount board. I then cut it into 1 inch squares. My intention is to lay them out onto a background. I haven't decided on the colour of the background. It will be plain, black, red or white.

The creation that fits into the palm of my hand is an off cut. It was immediately to hand, in a carrier bag at my feet.

Individual squares to be placed and framed next week

It took me a lot longer to write the post than to create the object!

Tomorrow's task is to use my favourite animal as inspiration. I'll probably draw a cat.
